DTM: new season approaches
DTM manufacturers start active preparations for the new season: this week Audi, BMW and Mercedes gathered in Jerez for the first winter test session.
No public or media allowed, but there are some news: BMW has invited a lot of new drivers, including FIA European F3 vice champion Tom Blomqvist, Indy Lights runner-up Jack Harvey, GP3 champion Alex Lynn and his colleague Richie Stanaway, Formula E hero Sam Bird and Formula Renault 3.5 champion Robin Frijns who as we all well remember won the first ever race at Moscow Raceway.
The Dutch driver by the way has already tested DTM car, two years ago for Mercedes, and last summer did the same job for Audi. Frijns’ manager lately said he considers the German series as one of the most preferable for the driver’s career.
One more fresh face for DTM BMW team – GT’s Lucas Luhr who drove for Audi in 2007.
Marco Wittman, Augusto Farfus, Maxime Martin, Bruno Spengler, Timo Glock and Antonio Felix da Costa are about to join the team in Jerez. BMW plans to announce its 2015 line-up before the New Year.
Audi and Mercedes are keeping their secrets yet, but as far as we know Russian Vitaly Petrov is not expected in Jerez. The first test session will end on Thursday.
