The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters was started in 1984 and nowadays is one of the most prestigious and hi-tech world championship.
Since 2005 when Opel went away from active racing Audi and Mercedes fought for the crown. But in 2012 the third biggest German manufacture – BMW – intervened in a dispute of the last-mentioned auto colossuses.
A new era of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters began with this return of the Munich company and modern rules. The challenge has become bigger and tougher which also warms-up the heat around the audience. Manufactures bring huge budget into the series and invite best drivers – it’s a 100% guarantee of success.
In 2013 twenty all two participants got points, seven different drivers won races, 13 drivers — more than a half of the grid! — was at the podiums.
But only two of them — Augusto Farfus and Mike Rockenfeller — won more than one race, so these two fought for the crown which in the end went to the German driver.
BMW won manufacturers’ title leaving the second and the third place for Audi and Mercedes.
Moscow Raceway round in 2013 was an undeniable success for everyone — 45 000 fans gathered to see a great show at the Russian circuit. The next Moscow round is planned for July 13, 2014.
DTM cars look alike with road coupe cars — Audi RS5, Mercedes C-Coupe and BMW M4, but in fact they are pure race horses with V8, 500php engines.
